Kuwait Visa Status Check: Track, Verify and Print Your MOI Visa
Kuwait Visa Status Helper
Check your numbers for typing errors, see where to track your visa and what your status means.
Nothing you enter leaves this page. This is a guide only; the Ministry of Interior decides and shows the official visa status.
Waiting for a Kuwait visa is stressful, whether it is a work entry visa from a new employer, a family visit visa for your parents or a tourist visa for a short trip. The good news is that the Ministry of Interior (MOI) now handles most visas online through the Kuwait Visa platform at kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw, so you can track an application, confirm that an issued visa is genuine and print it without visiting an office.
I compared MOI announcements, the official Kuwait Visa app listing, news reports and the guides that rank for this search, then put the steps in one place. This page covers visas only. If you are waiting for your physical card after arrival, use our Civil ID status checker instead.

What Is a Kuwait Visa Status Check?
A visa status check tells you whether your application has been decided, whether the visa has been issued, and whether an issued visa is genuine and still valid.
Visas are issued by the General Department of Residency Affairs at the MOI. In July 2025 the ministry launched the Kuwait Visa platform for visit visas, after it suspended the older eVisa service in December 2024 for upgrades. Today you check most visit visas inside your account on that platform, while work and family entry visas are usually tracked through the sponsor.
Checking is free, so never pay a website or agent to see your own status.
Kuwait Visa Types You Can Check
The Kuwait Visa platform handles four kinds of visit visa, and the MOI also issues entry visas for people who come to live in Kuwait.
| Visa type | Who it is for | Who applies |
|---|---|---|
| Tourist visa | Eligible nationalities and GCC residents | The traveller |
| Family visit visa | Relatives of citizens and residents | The sponsor in Kuwait |
| Business visa | Company visitors and partners | A local company or hotel |
| Government visa | Officials on official visits | A government body |
| Entry visa (work, family joining, study) | People who will get residency | Employer or family sponsor |
Visit visas are single entry or multiple entry, and they do not allow work. Since August 2025, a family visit visa can cover relatives up to the fourth degree, the old salary cap was removed, and you can fly with any airline. Israeli nationals are barred by an Amiri decree.
What You Need Before You Check
- Your login (email and password) for the Kuwait Visa platform, if you applied there.
- Visa or reference number, from the approval email or the visa copy your sponsor sent.
- Application number, if your visa is still under review. This is not the same as the visa number.
- Passport number, typed exactly as printed, including any leading zeros.
- Sponsor details, such as the sponsor’s Civil ID number, for family and work visas.
How to Check Visa Status on the Kuwait Visa Portal (Step by Step)
If you or your sponsor applied on the Kuwait Visa platform, your account is the most reliable place to see the status. The MOI also sends updates by email.
Prefer to watch? This short video shows a Kuwait visa check:
- Step 1 Open kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw in your browser, or the platform’s app, and choose English or Arabic.
- Step 2 Log in with the email and password you used to apply. A one-time password (OTP) may be sent to your email.
- Step 3 Open your applications list and select the visa you want to track.
- Step 4 Read the status shown next to the application and open it to see any notes or requests for documents.
- Step 5 If the visa is issued, download the visa file and save it on your phone.
- Step 6 Check your email inbox and spam folder for the matching MOI message, so you have a second copy.
Menu labels can change after updates; look for a section such as My Applications after you log in.
Checking an Older Visa by Application Number or Passport
Before the new platform, the MOI ran separate inquiry pages: one for the visa application status, which asks for the visa application number and a captcha, and one for eVisa inquiry, which asks for the passport number and the eVisa reference number. Guides updated in 2025 and 2026 still list them for older applications.
- Step 1 Find the number on your application confirmation or approval email.
- Step 2 Enter the application number, or the passport number together with the reference number.
- Step 3 Type the captcha exactly, including capital letters.
- Step 4 Press Submit and read the result.
A passport number alone is not enough on these pages. If you get no result, the old page may not hold visas issued on the new platform, so log in to your Kuwait Visa account instead.
Checking a Work or Entry Visa for Residency
A work visa, also called an entry visa or entry permit, is requested by the employer, not the worker. The employer handles the work permit with the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and the entry visa with the MOI, then sends the worker a copy.
- Ask your employer or recruitment office for the visa copy and the visa number. They can see the status in their own company account.
- Confirm the details on the copy: your name, passport number, nationality, job and the validity dates.
- Verify it with the MOI before you buy a ticket.
Family joining visas work the same way through the sponsor. Domestic worker visas are handled by the sponsor in Sahel, which since September 2025 shows whether a visa was already issued for the same worker. Since 23 December 2025, every entry visa costs KD 10, and after you arrive you must complete residency within two months. After residency, your first Civil ID follows; our guide to the new Civil ID for expats explains that stage.
Verifying a Visa with the Kuwait Visa App
The MOI publishes a free app called Kuwait Visa on the App Store and Google Play. According to its store listing, it provides electronic verification of entry visas before boarding the plane and entering Kuwait. It also verifies MOI documents and certificates, and a 2023 update added a Residency Status Inquiry.
Use it when someone sends you a visa copy and you want to know it is real before you pay for a flight.
What Each Visa Status Means
The exact wording can differ between the new platform, the app and older inquiry pages, but the statuses fall into these groups.
| Status you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Submitted or In Progress | The MOI is still reviewing the request | Wait and check again later |
| More information required | The MOI needs a document or correction | Upload what is asked quickly |
| Approved or Issued | The visa has been granted | Download, print and check the dates |
| Rejected | The request was refused | Read any reason, fix it and reapply |
| No record found | The numbers do not match a visa | Recheck every digit and the number type |
| Expired | The visa dates have passed | Ask your sponsor for a new visa |
Rejections often come from wrong or missing documents, a passport valid for less than six months, earlier overstays or details that do not match.
How to Download and Print Your Kuwait Visa
An issued visa comes as an electronic file, usually a PDF in your account and sometimes in the approval email.
- Step 1 Log in to your Kuwait Visa account and open the issued application.
- Step 2 Download the visa file and save a copy on your phone.
- Step 3 Print it on plain A4 paper in colour if possible.
- Step 4 Check that your name, passport number, visa type and validity dates match your passport.
Carry the printed visa with your passport, and keep the digital copy as a backup. If a sponsor applied for you, ask for the PDF, not a screenshot.
Kuwait Visa Fees and Validity in 2026
Fees changed with the new executive regulations of the residency law, which took effect on 23 December 2025.
| Item | Current rule |
|---|---|
| Visit visa fee | KD 10 per month |
| Entry visa fee (work, family, study) | KD 10 |
| Checking your visa status | Free |
| Common visit visa length | Up to 3 months, renewable to one year in total |
| Multiple entry visa | Up to one year, each stay up to one month |
| Time to complete residency after entry | Two months |
Earlier 2025 reports gave shorter lengths, such as 30 days for business and family visits, so sources differ. Always follow the dates printed on your own visa.
After the Visa Is Issued: Entry, Residency and Overstay Fines
- Visit visa holders must leave before the visa ends. Under the residency law in force since 5 January 2025, overstaying costs KD 10 per day, up to KD 2000.
- Entry visa holders must complete residency within two months. Delays bring daily fines of KD 2 in the first month and KD 4 after that, capped at KD 1200.
In March 2026 the MOI extended visit visas automatically because of the regional conflict and airspace closures. On 20 August 2026 it announced that normal periods return from 1 September 2026, so do not count on automatic extensions now. If you think you may have an overstay, a travel ban check is worth doing before you fly.
How to Spot a Fake Kuwait Visa
Fake visa copies are sold to job seekers every year, so check before you pay anyone.
- Verify every visa in your Kuwait Visa account or the MOI Kuwait Visa app.
- Compare the details with your passport: name spelling, passport number and nationality.
- Remember the fee: an MOI entry visa costs KD 10, so very high visa charges are a warning sign.
- Use only the official MOI domain, not lookalike sites that ask for card payments to check status.
If the app or portal shows no record, do not travel until the sponsor confirms the visa with the MOI.
Common Kuwait Visa Status Problems and Fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| No record found | Check the number type, every digit and leading zeros in the passport number |
| Captcha keeps failing | Refresh the captcha, type capitals exactly, try another browser |
| Page will not load | Try again off peak, clear cache, or switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi |
| Status stuck on In Progress | Wait a few working days, then ask your sponsor to follow up |
| Approval email missing | Check spam and log in to your account to download the visa |
| Details wrong on the visa | Ask the sponsor to correct it before you travel |
| Visa rejected | Fix the documents or sponsor issue and apply again |
If nothing works, the sponsor in Kuwait can ask at the Residency Affairs department in their governorate.
